CHISHOLM — Larry Folstad, secretary for the Northern Traxx ATV Club, delivered promising news to the Chisholm City Council last week.
Trail anticipated to be completed in 2012
He reported the club had recently secured the necessary land permits from Arcelor Mittal Hibbing Land Corporation for the proposed 10.1-mile trail, which will start just north of Chisholm and end in Side Lake.
The club has worked on the details of the trail for the past six to eight years, said Folstad. Estimated cost of the project is around $177,000.
Approved a 2.5 percent increase for fire protection for the unorganized township 59-21 for the year 2012. The township had been paying a little more than $14,000 for fire protection.
Was informed by Councilor Colleen Drow that she’s been fielding concerns about the abundance of pigeons in town. She said she’s shared the concerns with City Administrator Mark Casey, who is exploring possible solutions.
Adopted a resolution accepting a donation of a set of flags from the Chisholm Hibbing Aviation Days (George Lambert). Mayor Mike Jugovich expressed appreciation for the donation estimated at around $8,000.
Approved the purchase of 15 pagers for the Chisholm Fire Department.
Approved a contribution to the Chisholm Fire Relief Assoc. in the amount of $15,597.
